Inbound Operators to Come Together for Intensive Strategic Planning
Later this summer, IITA inbound operator members will come together to collaborate on strategies that address current challenges and optimize the opportunities that lie ahead. While IITA operators participate in quarterly Forum discussions, for the first time IITA will bring the principals of its tour operator members together in a Retreat setting for in-depth discussions on how to strengthen the travel trade distribution ecosystem and position it for future growth.
The IITA Inbound Operator Retreat, scheduled for August 19-22, will be hosted by the Greater Zion Convention & Tourism Office and Black Desert Resort in Irvine / St. George, Utah.
Isabel Hill, Former Director of the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) at the U.S. Department of Commerce, will facilitate the discussion, which will feed into the Association’s strategic plan as the Board sets priorities and commits resources to what’s most beneficial to its members and the inbound sector of the travel industry.
This year’s IITA Summit featured the opportunities over the next decade with the many mega events scheduled in the USA – FIFA World Cup, America 250, Route 66 Centennial and Olympics – and the outlook for growth looked promising. However, the recent decline in arrivals and slowed bookings have resulted in dimmer outlooks for 2025 and caused concerns for 2026.
Still recovering from the pandemic’s impact – according to NTTO inbound operator business has had rebounded to 70 percent of the pre-pandemic 2019 level – U.S. inbound operators need to work together to let the world know the U.S. is open and the industry is prepared to provided great American experiences for international travelers. The Retreat provides the platform for industry leaders to identify the best path forward.
