Professional Bio
Ritter is active in numerous tourism and community organizations, serving on the board of U.S. Travel Association and participating in initiatives such as Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. She also serves on the executive boards of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and Winterfest Boat Parade, and is involved with the Orange Bowl Committee and the Museum of Discovery and Science.
Before joining Visit Lauderdale, Ritter served as a Broward County Commissioner from 2006 to 2016, including a term as Broward County Mayor from 2008 to 2009. Earlier, she represented District 96 in the Florida House of Representatives from 1996 to 2004.
Her leadership has earned numerous honors, including induction into the Broward County Women's Hall of Fame and recognition among the Florida Trend 500. During her tenure as county mayor, she helped advance major infrastructure projects, including improvements to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that contributed to expanded airline service and record passenger traffic.
Born in Washington, D.C. and a Broward County resident since 1974, Ritter holds a law degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Law and a BA from Rollins College. She is also a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME).
