One of the most cost-effective international trade shows, the IITA Summit delivers real results. The 2026 Summit received an outstanding 4.7/5.0 overall rating, with 85% of attendees expecting to sign contracts as a result of their participation.

IITA understands the vital connections between Inbound Operators, DMOs, and Suppliers in the travel trade. Our annual Summit is a premier sales and educational event, offering three and a half days of networking, industry insights, and valuable meetings.

This boutique-size conference fosters meaningful relationships and keeps you at the forefront of inbound travel. Attendees gain exclusive access to expert-led education, interactive panels, and open industry discussions—making it the perfect place to share ideas, collaborate, and shape the future of international travel.

In addition to education and networking, IITA shares our progress in advocating for the health and success of inbound operators and the international inbound travel sector. We discuss and work on critical issues like visa processing, national parks access and funding, and small business needs—ensuring a strong and thriving industry.

Why should Inbound Operators attend?
The IITA Summit is a curated event designed specifically for inbound operators, providing unparalleled networking, industry insights, and advocacy opportunities in an intimate setting. By attending Summit, you gain direct access to key industry players, advocacy updates, informative sessions and new business opportunities—all in one dynamic event.

Why should DMOs and Suppliers attend?
The IITA Summit  is the perfect place to come together to promote your product(s) and build relationships. Secure your spot when registration opens in August to ensure that you get networking appointments. A list of companies that attended Summit 2026 is available. Each year, IITA looks for new ways to enhance the Summit experience and deliver even greater value for attendees. For Summit 2027, we've introduced several exciting enhancements designed to increase networking opportunities, and make it even easier for inbound operators to participate. Please make sure to review this page from time to time as there may be additional changes and enhancements.

Here's what's new for Birmingham:

Operator Housing Assistance – In recognition of this year's economic conditions and to help make attendance more affordable, IITA will provide two complimentary nights of lodging for all member inbound operators who register by the October 31 early bird deadline and meet the following requirements: stay a minimum of four nights at the Hyatt Birmingham and fulfill all Rebate requirements (complete profile information, participation in the Tuesday Breakfast with the Operators, Operator Forum and have at least one attendee participate in all Networking Appointments).  Suppliers/DMOs: Interested in helping bring more operators to the Summit? Sponsor operator room nights and support increased buyer participation. Contact kim.fisher@inboundtravel.org to discuss this opportunity.

Summit Preparation Checklist & Toolkit Guide - Supplier and DMO attendees will soon have access to this fantastic tool developed by Stephanie Neppl from Iowa Tourism and currently being finalized by the Summit Committee. The guide is designed to help attendees maximize their return on investment before, during, and after the Summit.

Tuesday Breakfast with the Operators - During on-site registration, Suppliers and DMOs will select which operator company they want to be seated with for the Tuesday all-attendee breakfast.  This is a great opportunity to meet an operator that was not included in their networking appointment schedule.

Student Mentors Needed - We are looking for volunteer Student Mentors to help introduce the next generation of tourism professionals to the international inbound travel industry. Mentors will spend time with a tourism student on Wednesday, guiding them through education sessions, introducing them to industry colleagues, and helping them make the most of their Summit experience. We're especially seeking inbound operator mentors willing to have students sit with them during the Power Hour networking appointments, where students can observe buyer-seller meetings, ask questions, and gain firsthand insight into how inbound operators develop programs and work with destinations and suppliers.  If you are willing to shepherd a student for the day and share your knowledge and enthusiasm for the industry, we encourage you to sign up. Please contact Julie Heizer if you are interested in serving as a Student Mentor and helping inspire tomorrow’s inbound travel leaders.
