Help Shape the Next Generation of Travel & Tourism Professionals

Public,

The future of the travel and tourism industry depends on the people entering it today. That's why the International Inbound Travel Association (IITA) is expanding its efforts to connect educators, students, and industry professionals to strengthen the workforce that will support international visitation to the United States.

We're inviting our members and industry partners to help by sharing their connections.

Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry

As global travel continues to evolve, the international inbound and tour operator sector remains underrepresented in many hospitality and tourism programs. This creates an opportunity for stronger collaboration between academia and industry to ensure students graduate with a broader understanding of career opportunities and the skills needed to succeed.

Through new educational initiatives and partnerships, IITA is working to bridge that gap.

Introducing Students to the Many Careers in Tourism

Travel and tourism offers far more than traditional hospitality roles. To inspire students - as well as professionals looking for new opportunities - IITA and the International Tour Management Institute developed the Travel Careers Explorer Guide, an e-book featuring 75 diverse career paths across the industry.

From destination marketing and tour operations to technology, cultural heritage, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, the guide helps students, educators, and career changers discover the breadth of opportunities available in this global profession.

Building Knowledge Through Online Education

To complement career exploration, IITA offers the Inbound Insider Steps to Success™ Online Inbound Travel Trade Essentials course.

This self-paced program introduces participants to the global inbound travel trade, covering industry partnerships, product development, distribution channels, and the fundamentals of working with international tour operators. It provides students and newcomers with practical knowledge that can give them a competitive advantage as they begin their careers.

Bringing Students Directly Into the Industry

This year, IITA launched a new Summit initiative designed specifically for hospitality and tourism students. Participants completed the Steps to Success™ Online Training Program before attending the Summit, where they gained firsthand exposure to the international inbound travel industry through educational sessions, networking opportunities, and interactions with industry professionals.

The initiative reflects IITA's commitment to preparing the next generation of tourism leaders through meaningful, real-world experiences.
