July 2025 Total International Travel Volume to and from the United States
In July 2025, international visitor arrivals to the United States totaled 6,275,257, a decrease of 8.9 percent compared to July 2024
Outbound travel departures from the United States by U.S. citizens totaled 11,765,102 in July 2025, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to July 2024
Data recently released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in July 2025:
International Arrivals to the United States
- Total non-U.S. resident international visitor volume to the United States of 6,275,257 decreased 8.9 percent compared to July 2024, representing 81.5 percent of the pre-COVID total visitor volume reported for July 2019.
- Overseas visitor volume to the United States of 3,318,992 decreased 3.1 percent from July 2024.
- The largest number of international visitor arrivals was from Mexico (1,593,931), Canada (1,362,334), the United Kingdom (380,233), India (187,219), and France (176,222). Combined, these top 5 source markets accounted for 59 percent of total international arrivals.
- The top 5 overseas tourism arrivals for July were the United Kingdom (344,884), France (164,222), Brazil (149,229), Germany (142,219), and Japan (140,589).
- The top 5 overseas business arrivals for July were India (36,924), the United Kingdom (32,690), Japan (30,035), Germany (19,125), and South Korea (16,054).
- The top 5 overseas student arrivals for July were China (14,601), India (13,027), South Korea (4,669), Brazil (2,808), and the United Kingdom (2,659).
International Departures from the United States
- Total U.S. citizen international visitor departures from the United States of 11,765,102 increased 4.6 percent compared to July 2024 and were 109.5 percent of total departures in pre-pandemic July 2019.
- The year-to-date (YTD) market share for North America (Mexico & Canada) was 48.8 percent and overseas was 51.2 percent.
- Mexico recorded the largest outbound visitor volume of 3,778,909 (32.1 percent of total departures for July). Canada recorded a year-over-year (YOY) decrease of 4.3 percent.
- Combined YTD, Mexico (24,529,733) and the Caribbean (7,393,922) accounted for 48.7 percent of total U.S. citizen international visitor departures.
- Europe was the second largest market for outbound U.S. visitors with 2,787,158 departures. This accounted for 23.7 percent of all departures in July. Outbound visitation to Europe in July 2025 increased 6.4 percent compared to July 2024.
