NTTO: June Numbers for International Air Passenger Travel
According to the National Travel and Tourism Office, overseas visitation to the United States was down 3.4 percent year over year in June. Highlights of the recent APIS/I-92 study data showed that U.S.-international air traffic passenger enplanements totaled 25 million in June, down 1 percent compared to June 2024, with enplanements reaching 105 percent of pre-pandemic June 2019 volume.
Originating Non-Stop Air Travel in June 2025
Non-U.S. citizen air passenger arrivals to the U.S. totaled 4.4 million in June, down 6.6 percent compared to June 2023, representing 83.2 percent of the pre-pandemic June 2019 volume.
On a related note, overseas visitor arrivals of 2.8 million in June, which reached 80.4 percent of pre-pandemic June 2019 volume, were down from 84 percent in May. U.S. citizen air passenger departures from the U.S. totaled 8.3 million in June, up 0.2 percent from June 2024, exceeding June 2019 volume by 20.3 percent.
World Region Highlights in June 2025
Total air passenger travel (arrivals and departures) between the United States and other countries were led by Mexico (3.478 million, -1.4 percent Year-Over-Year (YOY)), Canada (2.804 million, -4.9 percent YOY), the United Kingdom (2.031 million, -5.0 percent YOY), Germany (1.110 million, -1.6 percent YOY), and the Dominican Republic (1.070 million, -2.2 percent YOY).
International regional air travel to/from the United States:
- Europe totaled 8.2 million passengers, up 1.0 percent over June 2024, and up 3.4 percent compared to June 2019
- South/Central America/Caribbean totaled 5.915 million passengers, down 1.4 percent from June 2024, and up 15.8 percent from June 2019.
- Asia totaled 2.8 million passengers, up 2.7 percent from June 2024, but down 18.1 percent compared to June 2019.
Top U.S. ports serving international locations were New York (JFK) 3.2 million, Los Angeles (LAX) 2.2 million, Miami (MIA) 2.1 million, San Francisco (SFO) 1.6 million, and Chicago (ORD) 1.5 million.
Top foreign ports serving U.S. locations were London Heathrow (LHR) 1.7 million, Cancun (CUN) 1.1 million, Toronto (YYZ) 1.0 million, Paris (CDG) 919,000, and Frankfurt (FRA) 728,000.
