Welcoming the World, Together

IN A TIME WHEN THE WORLD feels more connected than ever —and yet more complex, I’m honored to chair the International Inbound Travel Association, because our members come from every sector of the U.S. travel industry, and they are the experts in inbound travel. Our members are your partners who will help you navigate the complexities of today’s global travel environment.
We are all operating in a landscape shaped not only by evolving traveler expectations and the changes resulting from the pandemic, but also by shifting geopolitical dynamics, visa processing challenges, and growing concerns around safety, stability, and global mobility. These are real and pressing issues that directly affect how—and if—international travelers experience the United States.
Yet, even in this environment, I remain deeply hopeful.
Why? Because travel endures. Because curiosity overcomes distance. And because the work that you and our members do every day — crafting itineraries, building trust, and creating access — proves that travel is still one of the most resilient and human industries in the world.
At IITA, we are not turning away from the complexities. We are meeting them head-on. This past year, we redoubled our efforts to advocate for fair and transparent travel policies, to collaborate with government and industry stakeholders, and to ensure that the United States remains a welcoming destination for people from every corner of the globe. We will both advocate for tourism-friendly policies and ensure our members – your partners – are informed of changes in visitor requirements and processes, so they can effectively guide you.
This is a critical time for us to stay connected, communicate clear and up-to-date information to our customers, and continue telling the world the U.S. is open and full of unforgettable memories. After all, we have a decade of opportunity before us for international travelers to have amazing American experiences as we celebrate the Route 66 Centennial, host FIFA World Cup, commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, and prepare for the summer and winter Olympics coming to the U.S.
As we navigate new policies and processes, we are leaning into the opportunities that come with change.
We are building bridges — between inbound operators and international buyers, between legacy destinations and emerging communities, between tradition and innovation. Whether it’s promoting lesser-known destinations, facilitating unique experiences, or investing in sustainable travel practices, our focus is on progress, not perfection.
Your perseverance and partnership inspire us. You remind us that global travel is not just a transaction — it’s a relationship. It’s built on shared vision and a deep belief in what’s possible.
Let’s continue to move forward—together—with integrity, imagination, and impact.
