In December 2025, international visitor arrivals to the United States totaled 6,048,545, a decrease of 6.2 percent compared to December 2024
Outbound travel departures from the United States by U.S. citizens totaled 10,205,347 in December 2025, an increase of 3.6 percent compared to December 2024
Data recently released by the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) show that in December 2025:
International Arrivals to the United States
- Total non-U.S. resident international visitor volume to the United States of 6,048,545 decreased 6.2 percent compared to December 2024 and represents 88 percent of the pre-COVID total visitor volume reported for December 2019.
- Overseas visitor volume to the United States of 3,208,088 decreased 1.3 percent from December 2024.
- The largest number of international visitor arrivals came from Mexico (1,639,874), Canada (1,200,583), the United Kingdom (319,162), Brazil (227,273), and Japan (180,627). Combined, these top 5 source markets accounted for 59 percent of total international arrivals.
- The top 5 overseas tourism arrivals for December were the United Kingdom (291,982), Brazil (218,892), Colombia (158,728), Japan (156,826), and South Korea (143,425).
- The top 5 overseas business arrivals for December were India (27,538), the United Kingdom (25,416), Japan (22,371), Germany (13,518), and South Korea (13,442).
- The top 5 overseas student arrivals for December were China (16,110), India (14,900), South Korea (4,228), Taiwan (2,588), and Brazil (2,102).
Year End 2025
- Total international visitor arrivals for December Year-to-Date (YTD) totaled 68,287,793, a decrease of 5.5 percent from 2024 and was 86 percent of the total international visitor arrivals in 2019.
- Overseas visitor arrivals for December YTD totaled 34,289,238, a decrease of 2.5 percent from 2024.
- There were three world regions that reported a Year-over-Year (YOY) increase in visitor volume to the United States in 2025:
- Central America had 1,688,028 visitors with the largest percentage increase of 4.7 percent from 2024.
- Eastern Europe had 1,126,172 visitors with an increase of 2.5 percent from 2024.
- The Middle East had 1,123,909 visitors with an increase of 2 percent from 2024.
- Mexico reported the largest volume of visitors for 2025 with 17,980,030, and a percentage increase of 6.4 percent from 2024. Canada was the second largest with 16,018,525 visitors, and a percentage decrease of 20.9 percent.
- By port of entry, New York reported the largest volume of visitor arrivals for 2025 (5,846,403). Miami was second (4,725,981), followed by Los Angeles (3,200,172).
International Departures from the United States
- Total U.S. citizen international visitor departures from the United States of 10,205,347 increased 3.6 percent compared to December 2024 and were 115 percent of total departures in pre-pandemic December 2019.
- The YTD market share for North America (Mexico & Canada) was 48.6 percent and overseas was 51.4 percent.
- Mexico recorded the largest outbound visitor volume of 4,263,541 (41.8 percent of total departures for December and 36.3 percent YTD. Canada recorded a YOY decrease of 9.2 percent.
- Combined YTD, Mexico (39,680,600) and the Caribbean (11,339,823) accounted for 46.7 percent of total U.S. citizen international visitor departures.
- Europe was the second largest market for outbound U.S. visitors with 1,590,280 departures. This accounted for 15.6 percent of all departures in December. Outbound visitation to Europe in December 2025 increased 2.9 percent compared to December 2024.
