Policy. Process. Perception - The Forces Behind Travel
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
AS WE LOOK AHEAD, one thing is clear: policy, process, and perception are playing an increasingly influential role in shaping global travel — and perhaps even more so when it comes to international travel to the United States. While not unique to the U.S., we’re seeing how a combination of entry requirements, cost structures, and public narratives can influence traveler decision-making. And that directly impacts how we plan, package, and sell the U.S.
At IITA, our priority is to ensure that the voice of the international travel trade is not only heard but understood by those making decisions that affect global mobility. Over the past year, we have intensified our engagement with federal agencies, policymakers, and industry stakeholders on issues ranging from visa processing and entry requirements to national park access and fee structures. Our approach is grounded in real-world input from our members and international travel trade.
We are advocating for policies that protect security while supporting a competitive and welcoming travel environment. Just as importantly, we are working to ensure that implementation is practical. How policies are executed on the ground often matters as much as the policies themselves.
This year, I am especially pleased to recognize the re-election of our Chairwoman, Lena Ross, COO of America 4 You, for a second term. Lena’s leadership — steady, thoughtful, and focused — has been instrumental during a time that requires both a cool head and a clear, strategic vision. She is supported by an engaged Board of Directors aligned around a clear objective: to reduce friction in the travel experience while strengthening the long-term viability of inbound travel.
We also recognize that policy is only part of the equation. Communication is equally critical. In a complex environment, access to clear, factual information helps counter uncertainty and supports informed decision-making. That is why we established the Trusted Resource Hub on our website and continue to prioritize timely updates and direct engagement with our international partners.
To our colleagues around the world, you are the bridge between travelers and destination, expectation and experience. Our commitment is to stand alongside you — advocating for better policies, sharing critical insights, and working toward a travel environment that supports confidence and growth.
Together, we are shaping what comes next for international travel to the United States.
